Freedom of Information Failures

Two watchdog groups are out with their findings after running some routine FOIA requests through all 50 states. The Better Government Association and the National Freedom of Information Coalition released their grades and found 38 out of 50 states failed. None got an "A" and only two got a "B."

What is wrong with the government?

Worse, the study authors noted, "This national study shows that in the vast majority of states, citizens have little to no recourse when faced with unlawful denial of access under their state's FOI laws."

You can read more, learn the methodolgy and see how your state ranked here.

Although I am admittedly a huge fan of press freedom, these findings have implications for ordinary citizens and business as well.
